The Lying Game Boot Camp – Photo Recap Survival Guide of Episodes 1×01 and 1×02

With “Pretty Little Liars” on hiatus until 2012, ABC Family has given us another Sara Shepard creation turned guilty pleasure to fill the little void in our hearts. If you were too tangled in Rosewood to get you bearings, have no fear, You are only 3 episodes behind and I’ve put together this catch-up survival guide to get you up to speed.

Meet Sutton Mercer and Emma Becker. They are doing the whole twins separated at birth thing exceptionally well and keeping touch via video chat so that they can be besties despite the fact that Sutton is living the high life and Emma is stuck in foster care where all the kids in the system get their own laptops or whatever.

Emma falls into some trouble with the law and makes a run for the Mercer Mansion but Sutton doesn’t have time to introduce her to the family or teach her the ropes and instead wants to head to California and locate their real mother leaving Emma in her place so her “adoptives” don’t realize she’s gone.

She makes Emma promise to meet back up in two days and makes a mad dash for wherever she is going, leaving Emma with nothing but her laptop. Again, thank goodness we have laptops.

Emma is thrust into Sutton’s life with nothing but a talking nav system in a shiny car and less then helpful laptop to teach her the way around. But since we only have as much time as she did to catch-up, here’s what Emma could have used to know but learned the hard way about the life of Sutton Mercer.

At first we are confused because Sutton’s parents aren’t at all concerned that their daughter had a major life turn around or something but they only see her for like half a second idea in between her ignoring them as she comes and ignoring them as she goes so they are probably just as confused as we are.

Sutton also has a little sister who has a whole slew of complexes because she was the accident or the unwanted child or the afterthought or something like that and for some crazy reason her parents continue to remind her of it and act like they like Sutton better despite the fact that Laurel is the likeable child. The Mercers should be spending some of their time letting their real daughter know that she wasn’t just a broken condom but instead they spend it chasing Sutton around and telling her how special she is because they “chose her” despite the fact that she calls them “the adoptives” when they aren’t looking.

So Emma is waltzing around in Sutton’s stilettos being confused and trying to figure everything out and by the end of her two days she is turning Sutton’s life around left and right, telling off Venus Williams, telling the adoptives how much she (Sutton?) loves them, being the only person to ever tell Laurel how awesome and underrated she is, and breaking up with sir kiss-a-lot. She has everyone else fooled except for Ethan who tells her she could never be Sutton with that lip action.

And the fact that she has had a boyfriend for a year that isn’t the boyfriend that everyone thinks she has goes up as the hundreth thing on the list of useful facts Sutton failed to mention about her life.

Emma tells him to buzz off in a word or two and heads off to go meet Sutton at their planned location to switch back or whatever they were going to do, which would all go swimmingly except that Sutton stands her up and Emma is not too happy about it.

Ethan followed Emma to the club house and now Emma is officially busted so she fills him in on the twin sitch and they both agree they need to keep up the charade for the time being. They head home and Emma comes home (are we allowed to call it home? considering she isn’t Sutton?) to find that the Mercer’s house has been broken into. The only thing missing is Sutton’s laptop which is like the Quran of all laptops and knowledge or something. So now Emma is officially screwed because she knows even less about Sutton’s life then she did before.

For a large chunk of time following Emma goes about the rest of her business, hanging out with Ethan, being nice to her family, standing up to her friends and generally just rocking the boat. Sutton fails to make any sort of contact but Ethan and Emma are much more worried about the missing laptop than they are about the missing twin sister. We may need to call Emily Fields and see if Rosewood can afford to share some of her worry.

Apparently, the laptop holds all the secrets to the world as well as a collection of evidence on past “lying games” which I think is something like Punk’d for pretty girls who need hobby.

Everyone is prepping for a father daughter dance which Laurel doesn’t want to go to because she is the daughter no one wants and Emma doesn’t know how to dance so instead of looking for her sister or anything, she is spending her afternoon’s and any other free time getting ball room lessons from the boy who happens to know some moves and be her twin sister’s secret boyfriend.

Also, turns out Emma may have drawn the long straw in terms of parents because everyone around her seems to be having an abundance of parent problems. Char has the mother out of rehab who is also the megatron of bitchy people. Daddy Mercer keeps saying he loves Laurel just the same but we all know he’s only kidding, Ethan lives in a trailer with his brother and their canned goods, and Mads’s dad is straight back from heroes and really angry he can’t fly still, so he lets it all out by having screaming matches with his daughter.

The night ends in a tussle between Mads and her father, and then her father and Ethan who was upset that Mr. Yells at My Kids Too much was all up in Emma’s face.

Sutton decides being missing wasn’t cool enough because all her pals were too busy with their own issues of not knowing how to ball room dance or do ballet or whatever and that she should come out of hiding. Emma and Ethan rush online and press her for details. She basically just tells them to continue to hold the fort because she’s got better things to do.

The conversation we urgently rushed to the computer for was less than satisfying, however Sutton has told us nothing in the past, what really made us think she was going to tell us anything now?

In the meantime the Mercer’s are finally realizing something is up for sure. There is just no reasonable explanation for my Ethan would step in to defend Sutton (Emma) against Darth Vader. For the most part they are still just confused until Laurel steps in and reveals the only logical explanation. “They’re dating obv.” About which the Mercer’s would still be pretty confused except that they then head to Sutton’s room where they find Emma and Ethan snogging or canoodling or licking each other’s wounds or something of that variety and still don’t really get it.

What we gather from all of this is that The Mercer’s are not fast learners. Sutton probably gave up telling them things when she realized how many times she had to repeat it. Therefore, Sutton now has a turth telling problem, created Lying Games to spice things up, and now doesn’t know how to tell anyone anything regardless of how honest it is.

And herein, lies, The Lying Game.

Too many missing kids in Rosewood- Pretty Little Liars 2×12 Photo Recap

It’s finale night in Rosewood and the only thing we know for sure right now is that Doctor Sullivan must be a pretty important person. You have kids like Sean Ackard who is the Reverend’s son for Pete’s sake, and he’s been missing for a few months now and no one seems to be worried. The Doc goes missing for a couple of hours and the Liars are in a tizzy of worry. So worried in fact, that they don’t trust a case like this one to the police; kidnappings and murders and the like are always best solved by girls with good hair and pretty clothes.

Emily, who would be the queen of worry in situations like this, gets a text from Maya and is instantly unworried. The girls decide that if Emily isn’t worried, no one should worry so they can look for the doctor later and head home to hang out with their honeys.

First stop in quadruple date land, Emily and Maya are catching up on their lives and how much we’ve all changed in the last month. They’re afraid they won’t still like each other and we’re afraid Maya will end up another kid on the Rosewood missing persons list like poor Samara and Paige.

Then we head to the land of Spencer and Toby where Spencer confirms that her mind goes to the same places ours does when someone says Toby; Abs. And we realize that Spencer and Toby may not be allowed to have a child because it would be the Megatron of all babies or something. Talk about a gene pool.

Caleb shows up at Hanna’s and they get all their couple time in as well because we have all the time in the world here; this town doesn’t have a handful of missing residents or anything serious like that.

Next stop on the couples tour of Rosewood, Ezra is kicking back in the office when Sigmund Jackie stops by. She keeps doing this flirty thing and Ezra keeps doing this “have a girlfriend” thing and Aria’s doing this listening thing which is surprising because we half expected her to stick around for half a second and run away and jump to a Rosewood Cliché number of conclusions about the situation. We’re proud of you, Aria.

A must be pissed that the girls have begun ignoring the fact that Doctor Sullivan is missing and decides that he/she/it is going to throw a list of demands at them in the form of talking dolls from hell.

This is all pretty horrifying and none of us will ever open a Christmas present the same way again. Everyone goes back to realizing that things are officially bad. Especially Emily who’s pretty upset that A forgot about her.

Spencer has to keep Toby’s truck from 66 from rolling off a mountain, Aria has to send psych department turned art writer, Jackie back to wherever she came from before she started stalking Ezra, and Hanna has to be the least favorite child yet again. The girls realize something they’ve never thought of before.-that A is playing with them.

Toby and Spencer are hanging out in the adorable mobile. He is being typically precious and Spencer isn’t saying much because she is mentally preparing to rip the hearts of everyone on the planet out and step on them.

She tells Toby that her secrets will get him hurt and runs away back to Verona. Toby watches, heartbroken, and there is nothing any of us can do but cry with him.

Jackie shows up at the Montgomery’s and does a lovely display of “this is how bitchy I can be” to shake up Aria. Supposedly this is her way of proving she loves Ezra or something.

Dear Jackie, are you confused maybe?

Emily is cruising around town when her GPS starts giving her the wrong directions. She glances in the back seat only to find that Santa must have forgot her Chuckie doll and wanted to make sure she didn’t feel left out.I am personally surprised Emily still can get in a car without having an anxiety attack.

Wren is hanging out at the Hastings where Spencer is being heartbroken and preparing for the wedding. He sweet talks all over Spencer and they share a little bit of lip grazing that we should be mad about except that we can’t be because he is British and Wren and British.

At the wedding, Hanna and Caleb are standing around being hair models and attractive and whatever else they do when evil step-bitch shows up. Hanna leaves and Caleb reminds step monster who’s boss in what is possibly the best display of boyfriend defense in ever. Other boys use fists, Caleb uses girl knowledge.

The possessed GPS sends Emily to a barn. She ventures inside in hopes to find the doctor and winds up all locked up and swimming in car fumes. Emily is a smart kid so she instantly figures out where this can only lead. However that uses up all the smarts Rosewood has for one episode because she doesn’t think to break the car windows and shut the car off.

In flash forward land Toby is at the police station being star-crossed as usual with Spencer. However we are now sure that Emily used up the town of Rowewood’s brain power bank because he starts shouting “I don’t care what you can’t tell me” through the police station in an effort to clear Spencer’s name, or something. Dear Toby, she’s being accused of murder, probably not the most timely love profession.

Emily wakes up from her fumes snooze in Ali’s lap. We are as confused as Emily but that can only be expected because Ali is around. Ali starts doing her Ali thing- saying things that don’t make sense, sorta whispering, and talking to the girls like they are collectors items instead of people. She says she knows who A is but can’t share with the room because that would ruin her ability to be confusing and always know something we don’t. She obviously forgot how to count because she says something along the lines of I can’t tell you or else you will be dead. But we already see one dead girl here soo…

Back in the time machine police station, things are getting pretty serious because the Hastings are around to put in a minute or so of parenting time. Jason stops by and Daddy Hastings thinks now is not the time for a vampire club meeting. They reference some more secrets they have and Peter growls a lot.

Outside the barn the girls play a quick game of “what wasn’t here before” and discover the shovel with some coordinates on it. They use a phone or their brain compasses or something and find a straw poking out of the ground at the exact location of the coordinates. So either someone dropped their slurpie or the doc is buried and breathing through a straw.

The girls start digging only to uncover a fake body and wind up swarmed by police. Turns out the police are not worried about the fact that the girls are digging up fake bodies in the woods but they are pretty pissed that they bought their shovel at the same store as whoever killed Ali.

Captain Shades and Officer Shady are having a secret meeting at the police station.

They talk about how they are A or hired A or killed Ali, or hired someone to kill Ali –the facts are a little fuzzy still.

A and Doctor Sullivan are grabbing some grub at the local diner. A slips the doc an envelope and we are left with the only thing we already knew about A –he/she/it has nice eyes.

Just keep lying and we'll stay in business – Pretty Little Liars 2×11 Photo Recap

This week on Girls With Good Hair Playing in theWoods it is morning at the Marins. We aren’t surprised. Emily receives a text from A as she is tossing and turning in Hanna’s newly found bedroom. The text tells her Maya is in the woods or something because she hops up pretty quickly and goes on a mad dash through the wilderness of Rosewood.

The rest of the girls are concerned that Emily is missing and it’s going to be really hard to worry without her around. They are trying to decide where she could have possibly gone when they discover a photo of Mr. And Mrs. Obvious on Emily’s phone. A is trying Emily out for the “throw Aria under the bus” friendship award after Hanna turned it down. Aria suddenly becomes really really worried about the image on the phone and less worried about Emily and as always, her priorities are in Fitz land.

We get some awesome footage of Emily running at full speed (isn’t she not supposed to be doing physical activity right now or something?) through the woods, only to have her wind up at the therapist’s office door.

The remainder of the boxcar children are already at the therapists. Dr. Sullivan tells Emily that her friends were really worried. The girls obviously forgot to tell her not to mention worry around Emily and it sends her into a tizzy of worrying about how A thinks she is the biggest worry-wart of the bunch. The girls assure her that they don’t think that’s true but they can only be so sure.

Toby is doing some work in someone’s backyard. We aren’t sure who because Jenna is parking right next to him but in this neighborhood all the backyard’s and greenhouses and whatever belong to everyone so it doesn’t matter.

Turns out on top of Jenna’s flute, pottery and fiction writing talents she has also taken up in interest in conceptual art and is displaying her artwork on the car dashboard while hanging out waiting for Garret.

Back at group therapy, Dr. Sullivan is wondering the same thing we have been wondering for quiet a while now. Why haven’t they told anyone? With as deadly as this is all getting, it is starting to seem as if Ella finding out about Fitz or the world finding out about the Jenna thing, might be a blessing. But they still don’t say anything because, well, they are Pretty Little Liars, telling the truth would be disastrous.

It’s another bring your random non-student to Rosewood high day again and Grandma Marin stops by Hanna’s lunch table to say hello. We are kind of confused as to what she’s doing here but then she says something about “her lilly” and she becomes the new absolute coolest person in Rosewood. Spencer and Emily pretend to be horrified about but we all know it’s just because their families will never be as cool as the Marins.

Hanna and Grandma Fabulous head back to the Marin’s where she is rearranging the kitchen and trying to convince Hanna and Ashley that they are delusional. She says something about them turning into sloppy joes if they keep pretending everyone is happy. They both look kind of hurt and she is definitely digging to deep but there is something so awesome about her that we absolutely agree with everything she ever says.

At the Montgomery’s Ella and Aria venture into dracula’s cave and try to talk to him. He hulks out or something and shoves Ella. We would appreciate it if she would just throw her hands up and freeze him already or something. Teach that boy some manners. But instead she tells Aria not to tell her dad about how she lost her powers. People in this town never learn.

At the non school where there is never class, the 33 students are attending an assembly during which Doc Sullivan tells everyone that Nancy Drew and the 3 blind mice have a stalker.

The problem is that this is actually an assembly of the entire Rosewood creepy club and so everyone would know exactly what is going on except so many people have spent time being creepy that they all think she is talking about them.

Later Jenna comes strolling outside and though her stick placement is usually flawlessly and dramatically planned, this time they screwed it up and Emily isn’t okay with it.

At her father’s rehearsal dinner, Hanna is being fed alcohol and shrimp by the love child of Barbie and Satan but doesn’t seem to think it is suspicious.

Emily heads to a restaurant and is hanging out being lonely until Maya comes in. Emily’s face, for the first time in weeks, goes from worried to happy and we remember why we need Maya around. They smile and do this awesome “I still remember your name” reunion which is pretty adorable.

Spencer and Toby are getting hot and heavy in what is apparently Rosewood’s new parking location, which is Jason’s front yard or something. Because if you’re going to go parking you might as well do it in front of the pervy video making club’s hang out. You know just to mix things up.

Maya is back so the St. Germain’s are throwing a welcome home party and causing all kinds of commotion in the DiLaurentis house’s windows. Spencer decides to tell Jason that she knows all about his tricks only to discover that it was Daddy Hastings hiding out with Jason, having a vampire club meeting or something.

An epic battle ensues between The Evil Count of Darkness and the Adorable Crusader until Princess Juliet thrusts herself in the middle of it resulting in Count of Darkness bellowing his Evilness across the battlefield scaring the star-crossed lovers to escape in the adorable-mobile.

Back at the wedding from camp family issues party Hanna is pretty intoxicated and the evil step sister is waving her mother’s wedding dress in her face. Resulting in Hanna losing her shrimp all over the dress and we hate to say we told you so but….way to go Hanna.

However then Mr. Marin and Saint Grandma Marin come in causing Hanna to cry and for the millionth time I will say, Hanna Marin tears are the saddest in the world. Daddy doesn’t seem to notice because he’s been hanging out with Mr. Hastings in the “dads without souls” club. He kicks both Hanna and his mother out of theparty. We are almost mad, but who wants to go to his stupid wedding anyways and the grandma/hanna hug that ensues afterwards makes it totally worth it.

In flashback land Ali Spencer and Hanna are hanging out with Super Grandma who is definitely not from Rosewood because Ali tries to pull some of her Ali shenanigans and hypnotize everyone into believing that she is actually making sense when she talks and Grandma Marin doesn’t care.

Emily gets a text from Dr. Sullivan saying she knows who A is. She rounds up the remainder of the Hardy girls and head over to find that Dr. Sullivan has gone for a walk or something. We will add “why didn’t dr. Sullivan tell us over the phone” to the list of things that make us go crazy despite the fact that they keep Rosewood on our televisions.

Dear doctor Sullivan, if this doesn’t end well for you, thank you. You died for a wonderful cause.

Summer TV Actors Troian Bellisario and Patrick J. Adams answer fan questions and spill about their characters and on screen romances in "Suits" and "Pretty Little Liars"

It is my own, personal opinion, that summer television is among some of the best out there. Generally compromised of freshmen shows that are living season to season with some of the most fantastic and involved cast members, they are the shows that we are all watching and obsessing over while we are hanging in the limbo between waiting for our fall shows, school vacations and beach trips. I had the opportunity to sit down with a duo who bring us TV fanatics two of the most watched and most loved characters of our summer seasons, Troian Bellisario of ABC Family’s twisted mystery drama, “Pretty Little Liars” and Patrick J. Adams of USA Network’s bromance of the year, legal, whit-fest, “Suits.” They took the time to answer some of your fan questions as well as divulge their feelings behind their characters, and each other’s romances.

Fan Question: “If you went to Hogwarts what house would you be in?”

Troian Bellisario: What house would I be in? This is really hard and I always struggled with it. Of course I’ve spent days thinking about this…I’ve always wanted to be in Gryffindor, of course, because everyone wants to be in Gryffindor. By the way, Patrick would hands down by Gryffindor.

Patrick J. Adams: It just seems like Slytherin and Gryffindor are it.

Troian: see that’s the thing I want to be in Gryffindor, but I would be Ravenclaw probably, because they  value wisdom and learning above all things. But then, Hermione was put in Gryffindor. I envision myself as a Hermione as a really smart Gryffindor. I was always afraid that I would be in Slytherin because I have a bad temper.

Patrick: The end of the movie really bummed me out when they were like “Slytherin people down in the dungeon!” That’s just causing more problems. When they did that they created another Voldemort in that group somewhere. It’s the problem with Republicans and democrats, “we win so you lose” Why don’t we all start winning?

Troian: that’s why you’re a Hufflepuff.

Fan Question: If your lives were a movie who would you want to play each other?

Troian: I would want you to play the part.

Patrick: I would want you to play the part

Troian: That’s sweet. It would just be awkward acting across from somebody that I know is supposed to be Patrick.

Patrick: Rooney Mara is a close second to play you.

Troian: Are you saying that because we seem similar or because you have a crush on her?

Patrick: I plead the fifth.

Troian: So he choose Rooney Mara, and I will still stick to him.

Patrick: I choose you, I always choose you.

Fan Question: “If you could have any one of the 3 deathly hallows which would you pick and why?”

Troian: I mean honestly that all just depends on where you are in your life. If someone significant has died you want the resurrection stone.

Patrick: No ifs ands or buts. If you want one of them right now whats it gonna be.

Troian: I just want a wand. The Elder Wand.

Patrick: what’s the third one?

Troian: Invisibility cloak.

Patrick: easy cloak. Next.

Fan Question: “Patrick, as a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?”

Patrick: an actor and an astronaut I went back and forth. Then someone told me you have to be really good at math and I was like no that’s not gonna happen. I’ll go back to being an actor again. I think it was around the time “Apollo 13” came out and everybody was like of all the things in the world those are the two hardest things to want to be, an actor and an astronaut. I would still have loved to do that but I was so bad at math.

Fan Question: “Troian, What do you do during down time on set?”

Troian: I try to write.  I’m working on a few different screenplays right now.  But usually you don’t have alot of true down time in between work so mostly I end up surfing Tumblr.

Fan Question: “Patrick, how did you become interested in photography? Is it something you are persuing as a career?”

Patrick: I have always been interested in photography, my dad is a journalist so I sort of grew up with a profound respect for telling a story through images…he also always had a camera around the house so I sort of became wildly obsessed with documenting. As our family got older and older and things started changing divorce and all that I became more and more attached to the idea of sort of capturing moments that I felt would pass me by so I think that’s a little bit of an unhealthy attachment to wanting to hold on to things or at least have something to remember them by and since then I think my photography has evolved to be more about an admiration and a respect not just for recroding a moment but also for letting it go… Is it something I’m pursuing as a career with acting? Yes I’ll always take photos and I love the idea of at some point being able to take a long time to do it. If acting continues to go well take a few months off and just focus on photography that sounds like a really blessed situation to be in but right now my priority has been acting.. And there are ways to interchange them. Having a tumblr throughout this first season ahs been really amazing. It’s been a cool way to share what’s going on on set with fans using my photography, so yes I’d pursue it. I’m going to pursue it all because I can’t sit still.

Fan Question: “Troian, What is a cause you feel strongly about?”

Troian: I feel very strongly about the state of our environment.  I hate the way we, human beings, and particularly Americans, are eating these days.  It is irresponsible, dangerous, unhealthy and unsustainable, and my head gets set on fire whenever I hear the people who say, “it’s my food and I don’t want to know where it comes from, I just want it to taste good.”  Nothing irritates me more because it is that attitude that is depleting our oceans, destroying our o-zone layer, causing obesity in children at the age of two.  I just want us to be aware.  I just read Johnathan Safran Foer’s “Eating Animals” and I recommend it to anyone who wants to be aware of what they put in their body and what we are doing to the earth.

Another cause I feel equally as passionate about is body image.  I recognize that I am part of an art form that at its best inspires and celebrates the tragedies and triumphs of our humanity, but at it’s worst is a machine to make people feel like they need and want more and more to be happy.  I suppose I am talking about art vs. commerciality and there is a huge discussion to be made about whether the two can ever be exclusive, but the struggle that I have everyday is knowing that while I can be an inspiration to a lot of girls, I can also make them feel more and more distant from themselves.  I sit in a make up chair for 2 hours a day so I can look as good as possible for my show, but that also creates a false image for viewers to expect of themselves.  I want to find a way to help girls love their bodies, and love themselves for who they are, not what some false image on the television or the cover of a magazine is telling them they should be because guess what….not even those girls look like that.  So many of us are at war with ourselves and we must end it.

Fan Question: “Name a fictional character that you relate to the most or think you are the most like?”

Torian: Hm…I’d say one of my favorites and one that I am very similar to would be Juliet.  She is very strong and smart and confident, but she is also vulnerable in love and struggling to shake the overwhelming power and control of her family.  She is a fighter, a romantic, and at times a cynic.  Maybe she is the best and worst version of me, and that’s why she is one of my favorite characters.

Patrick: The only thing I can think of is Eeyore from “Winnie the Pooh.” No real reason just that my whole life I’ve always been the guy in the corner being a little mopy and only now, recently in my life I am being a little more live out loud and don’t always look at the negative side of things. He’s someone I could relate to early on and now I’m trying to be a little more Tigger. I need some more Tigger.

Fan Question: “Troian, what has been your favorite episode?”

Troian: For me its definitely been these last two. We just shot the second to last and the mid season finale.  It’s really really fun. I saw the scene and it was really cool.

After answering some fan questions, we got to discussing what each of them has to say about their character’s, how they relate to them and the web of love triangles they are both involved in.

Patrick, What is your favorite thing about Mike’s character?

Patrick: You watch “White Collar” and shows like that its always about someone who is the best guy in the world. They are the best or the smartest or the coolest person. I love that Mike’s a guy whose not the best and I think people can really relate to that fear of starting something new that you aren’t sure you can pull off. I love playing that because Harvey’s the guy who is amazing and I get to let him be the best guy in the world at something and I get to let him be the best and be the guy who’s totally learning from him and doing my own thing really well sometimes and be the guy who comes up with solutions he wouldn’t really come up with but I can still mess up sometimes and Its in the messing up that for me I think he show works.

You’re always auditioning to be the coolest guy and the bad ass; The person who has one fault and that’s it; Mike’s not the best he just wants to do this thing right. I think we’re in a time now where people respond to that…That’s what people relate to. I don’t want my super hero to be the most perfect person in the world I want them to have flaws. I like playing the flaws.

Troian, you have said before if you had any advice for Spencer you would tell her to chill. Spencer has changed a lot. Has that changed?

Troian: Spencer has definitely changed. Which is interesting, I feel like the more time the writers spend with us the more they’re writing us into the characters which I like and I don’t like, I feel like because where I was when I was 16 is literally Spencer’s level of anxiety all the time it was awful but it was something that took me a long time to grow out of and I think the writers are seeing where I am now and sort of building that into Spencer but I kind of want to get back to that. I always like it when Spencer comes up against something. When there’s a control issue or something like that and she’s freaking out about it. It would still be that. I mean it’s my problem too. Spencer wants to fix everything and everybody that’s why she wants to control you know all of her friends relationships and you know make everything okay because she thinks that she can do it. Whenever anybody’s going through something she thinks you just need to follow my plan and of course you’ll be fine.

Troian: Can I ask a “Suits” question? Where are you in terms of Jenny vs. Rachel?

Patrick: In my heart? I love both of them I think its so interesting to have so many powerful strong cool women on a show that’s actually about guys. We’re like these dudes you know, people compare us to “Entourage” in that way. Because it’s a show with two central guys who want to win all the time. It would be easy to go into territory where all the guys have a roulette of women and all the women are kind of just there to have sex with them. And on our show it’s like every woman is so powerful and so charismatic and so storng and the actresses who play them are equally more so. I just love that this is a love Triangle but its not a matter of Mike Ross can pick whoever he wants. These two women are both awesome people and great characters, one of them represents Mike’s past and one of the represents what he imagines his future to look like so there’s this real choice for him to make and its not a clear cut choice.

A lot of people think we’re working towards a romance with me and Rachel and most shows that’s how it is you go oh those two are going to end up together that’s what is gonna happen but on are show, There’s somebody else kind of holding that back, so that’s where I stand. I’m terrified that if I chose Rachel that Jenny would be less part of the show and I really don’t want that to happen because Vanessa is really cool and wonderfully talented.

Troian, who do you want him to end up with?

Troian: I’m team Rachel because it was so obvious from the beginning that they’re fun together and their connection and the chemistry is so flirty and the pilot scene with the “I love you” and them sparring. But, I remember reading the script of the scene where you’re sitting outside and she kisses you. The first time Jenny kisses you. When I read that scene I was like “oh I do not like Jenny. No, get her out.” And I watched the scene and the way Vanessa played it, my heart broke for her and Patrick kissed her I think it was a moment where, I hate watching him kiss anybody but I was like  yeah! I don’t like this but I do!

What about Spencer’s love triangle. With Wren only around for a short time it was easy to say “team Spoby,” but now with him coming back around where do you stand?

Troian: Wren kind of screwed himself over because he was in the family very strong he was my sisters’ fiancé and its just one of those things where its like even if years go by is that going to be okay? Just the way that they write Wren and the way that they write Toby –Wren and Spencer are cut from the same cloth; They’re both incredibly smart. They’re both sarcastic they both put their wit and logic before their feelings, and they’re both really impulsive and so when you see them together I think that’s what the fans about like them; They are the same speed but I think its that they don’t stretch each other.

One of the cool things about Toby that Marlene made is that he has never lied and the first time he lied was for Spencer. Toby represents this purity and this heart that Spencer’s been missing from her life and that’s the person she’s supposed to be with because that’s the person that’s going to make her grow the most. I love the moments where Toby is forcing her to do the right thing or Spencer is pushing Toby in ways of ambition because Toby is not that ambitious and they are growing from that struggle.

Patrick: I like Toby. When someone has a British accent it makes you charming or something. But I see through your accent and your flowers. I like Toby, the mysterious guy with sort of a secret it doesn’t seem like he’s doing anything secretive you guys are just in love.

What if Hardy came back on “Pretty Little Liars?” Could he have a fling with Spencer?

Patrick: We talked about that because I like the idea that Hardy could be dangerous, that he could be a little bit like that bad boy. We didn’t know who Hardy was but I liked the idea that he’s the college guy who’s like a bad boy because Spencer likes all the bad boys. We liked the idea that Hardy could be the guy who throws the wicked parties. I talked to Marlene about it, we joked that Every year can be the Hardy Halloween special, the Halloween Party at Hardy’s house. It would be a one off mystery, and you would never have to see him again.

Troian: We were saying that we didn’t really want to have a whole storyline but we wanted in the episode that its this massive blow-out party and all this stuff goes down and at one point I just walk into a room and he walks into a room and we both kind of look at eachother and we’re like “hey.. uh… do I know you?” And then it cuts to us just making out. And Toby’s just downstairs sipping a cup awkwardly.

Patrick:  “I like your costume” “yeah you too.” And that’s it. And then you leave and you never see Hardy again until the next Halloween.

What if Troian were to have something similar on “Suits” to Patrick’s small part on PLL, what would the part be?

Troian: Oh my gosh, I would either want to be a Lolita-ish intern that reeks hell on the men of Pearson-Hardman.  Or I would want to be a really, really dangerous criminal that Mike and Harvey are brought in to prosecute or maybe better to defend and at first I seem all sweet and innocent and then I turn out to be a total monster.  So something sexy or dangerous.  Sorry, you can tell I haven’t thought about this at all….

Patrick: Troian is one of the most incredibly gifted actor’s I have ever seen and so I don’t know exactly what the role would be but I would want it to be something really strange. She speaks French so maybe like a French client. Not that being French is strange, but I would want it to be something that stretched her in a really different way than what she does on PLL. She’s so great on that show but you end up having to do the same stuff over and over like anyone would on any show. I would want her to be something different like a soldier returned from war..Yeah now we’ve become a French solider that’s a little weird. I would just want to see her do whatever she wanted to do, some client, or maybe a paralegal, though we have one of those. Maybe some strange client who speaks French and fights wars and dances. Give her a opportunity to show off all her other talents to the world. All though it would be fun to have Spencer Hastings come on the show. Either way, lets get Hardy back on PLL. I wanna get on that set.

Be sure to catch Troian Bellisario and Patrick J. Adams the final two episodes of the summer season of “Pretty Little Liars” on ABC Family Tuesday night’s at 8pm est and the remainder of “Suits” on USA Thursday night’s at 10pm est for more from this awesome summer TV duo.

Summer TV Actors Troian Bellisario and Patrick J. Adams answer fan questions and spill about their characters and on screen romances in “Suits” and “Pretty Little Liars”

What about Spencer’s love triangle. With Wren only around for a short time it was easy to say “team Spoby,” but now with him coming back around where do you stand?

Town of Rosewood; Because if you get bored snooping you can always join one of our many clubs- Pretty Little Liars 2×10 Photo Recap

Disclaimer: I was told by an anon on tumblr today that they didn’t like my recaps becuase they thought I was being mean to Shay Mitchell and insulting her acting. I would just like to stress how far from the truth that is. Any jokes that I make are strictly situational or about the characters and are in NO WAY meant as personal digs at any of the cast/crew of this show. I think Shay is a lovely person as well as a fabulous actress. I assume that comment is regarding my “worried face” jokes; I mean them strictly in the sense that Emily is always so worried. If I offended anyone I sincerely apologize. I love this show. These recaps are meant all in good fun.

When we last left Rosewood, snoopy Spencer and Emily discovered Jason’s stash of creepy photos of Aria. At school, Aria tells Emily that “Jason kissed her” meaning that she did not in any way kiss him. We all know this is silly because of the mental sex they had been having or whatnot. Emily warns her about her vampire boyfriend’s creepy photo-taking habits. Initially, Aria is pretty concerned but then Spencer shows up and tells her she should be careful and Aria decides that since two of her friends are saying it, that it must be a little questionable. Emily is pretty worried about Aria’s choice to only be minimally worried and so she decides to pour herself a bowl of cereal.

Turns out A switched all the letters in the box for ‘A’s” and left a little cracker jack toy for good measure.

It is morning at the Marin’s. Because it is always morning at the Marin’s.  We are starting to think that in Rosewood, you location determines time of day. If you’re at the Marin’s its morning, or bed time with Caleb. If you’re at the Montgomery’s its dinner time. If you’re at the Hastings its house party time because there aren’t any parents.

Aria decides that since Emily is doing all the worrying that can be done for one episode, she shouldn’t worry about being afraid of Jason. She marches right up to him and asks him about his idea of “artwork.” Jason must not understand what is going on here because he tells her he’s pissed that she didn’t “ask him a direct question.”

He explains to her that the bigger issue is that her friends were snooping in his hideout. We are not fooled, however, but we are confused; The bigger issue here is a toss up between the fact that Ali took freaky pictures of Aria sleeping and the fact that Jason thought that would make a nice “gift” for Aria.

Jenna is doing the sitting down version of the Jenna thing. Or playing peek-a-boo with her stick or something very Jenna-like behind a wall.

At school, Ella talks to the therapist about getting some help for Mike. The therapist has had enough of Rosewood’s youth after her last B&E in her office, so she thinks bringing in the town’s midnight burglar would be a bad idea.

Hanna pays Emily’s locker a visit and drops her off a free massage certificate so that she can maybe be less worried. We think this is a great idea, only when Hanna leaves the Hogwarts swim team walks by.

She is really flustered about it so she drops/throws all of her stuff out of her locker. The therapist feels bad and offers to give Emily someone to talk to. Emily makes the saddest face in the world and says she has some things they haven’t told the therapist. The therapist is really pretty shocked about this which doesn’t make much sense; she must have forgotten the hundred times the girls mysteriously ran out of her office in their least suspicious ways last time they talked.

Toby has finally come back from wherever he goes when he isn’t with Spencer, spitting rainbows on Emily, or being a member of the adorable people who hang out around the high school club. He is helping Spencer get rid of some of Ian’s leftovers before Melissa comes home. They stumble across an old yearbook of his that they casually flip through. They discover that Ian along with the rest of rosewood alumni’s finest were jealous of the “creepy kids in hoodies,” “possible A suspects,” “Adorable people who hang out at rosewood,” and “Awful parenting PTA” and wanted to make their own club instead.

At the school college fair, Aria and Ezra are doing their best non-obvious couple impression. Aria tells him that she is pissed about his choice in company and it is all kind of hypocritical in a “we don’t really get what you’re trying to prove, Aria” sort of way.

Back at the Hastings, Toby and Spencer are investigating the NAT club. They stumble upon a t-shirt with a latin phrase beginning wht the letters N.A.T. Spencer, being Spencer should totally remember her latin but she decides to do some quick Bing product placement for those of us that aren’t completely satisfied with Google. Turns out the phrase means “We See All.” Which is actually the town of Rosewood’s slogan and written on all the postcards but Spencer doesn’t notice and is pretty concerned that there are people in this town who spy on other people.

Emily settles in for her massage. Like Emily, we suspect nothing, except that there are some shifty camera angels and creepy music suggesting that something is afoot here. We quickly learn that A is not only a creepy weirdo, but A is totally a creepy weirdo WITH a background in massage therapy. So things are pretty scary now.

Jason brings the Ali stalker photos to Aria. They both fail to see how this is weird in any real way. Jason says “I never knew Ali was so artistic” and well.. neither did we.

At Spencer’s house, she strolls downstairs to find Jenna casually hanging out in the living room. Jenna says “your mom let me in” but obviously Jenna wasn’t paying attention because no adults actually live in the House of Hastings. She starts to get threatening with Spencer but our little detective knows more than Jenna thinks so she quickly puts her in her place.

The Scooby gang has a pow wow about the days’ problems. Emily is pretty worried that A’s hands were on her and Spencer is just catching on to our theory that A could easily be a group of people.

Garret decides to have a sulk fest over at his good old buddy Jason’s front porch. These two aren’t very talkative because they don’t really say much of anything. However they got bored of all the other Rosewood clubs so now they are going to start a sulk and brood club because it seems to be all they want to do.

They can even invite Mike Montgomery when he isn’t part of the people who break into shit club.

Speaking of people who break into things, A heads over to the therapists and mostly what we gain from this episode is that all those kids insisting Mike is A can finally stop because he is seeing a different therapist. This is probably going to be an awkward therapy session.
